Why Covid-19 Causes Breathing Problems

Covid-19 attacks the lungs and the battle between your immune system and the virus leaves behind a thick wall of mucus, pus and fluid which clogs the lungs exactly where oxygen should get transferred into the blood. This makes it difficult to sustain sufficient oxygen levels which can lead to organ damage. These breathing difficulties often bring significant fatigue, as well as anxiety and stress. Conscious breathing practices can help you improve blood oxygen levels, restore lung function and lower inflammation and anxiety.

Three Accessible Breathing Practices With Proven Efficacy

1. Breathing and Humming


A very useful practice of breathing to generate nitric oxide and lower viral count. This technique utilizes the body's own pathways to build Nitric Oxide as a defense against viruses and incoming pathogens. Nitric Oxide was used successfully as a treatment for the SARS Coronavirus outbreak and is being currently investigated for use in Covid-19 cases.

2. Breathing Deeper


Getting the air into the lower part of the lungs where the mucus that prevents oxygen from being picked up on the blood accumulates. I'll share with you a few easy-to-apply techniques that can help you clean out your lungs and progressively build your breathing power and stamina, and energy levels.

3. Breathing Rhythmically


The final practice is learning to breathe at a rate of 5 breaths per minute- a technique known as Resonant Frequency Breathing. RFB is a highly studied phenomenon of using the breath to entrain the heart and blood pressure to switch on the healing function of our nervous system and increases the amount of oxygen in the blood.
